Job summary

Travelers seeks an Associate Senior Counsel to handle a caseload of predominantly insurance defense matters from inception through trial and appeal. You will mentor less experienced attorneys, collaborate with claim partners, and deliver strong outcomes for insured clients.

This role covers a MA territory including Stockbridge and surrounding areas; travel is required to meet case and office needs. JD and 4+ years of practice, license in good standing, and proven trial experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international degree; graduate from an accredited law school.
• 4+ years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the required state(s).
• Strong courtroom and advocacy skills and ability to manage complex matters.

Responsibilities

• Handle a caseload of predominantly moderate to high exposure cases, including Major Case matters.
• Apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct proficient legal research and produce persuasive writing.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery documents.
• Attend court events and depositions; manage appearances independently.
• Provide case analyses and recommendations to clients and claim partners.
• Collaborate with experts and mentors to develop trial strategies.
• Build relationships with clients and business partners; mentor staff.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.
