Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking a Senior Counsel in the United States to independently handle a caseload of higher exposure and complex litigation matters, including Major Case and Complex Claim matters. The role emphasizes strong trial experience, advanced research, and persuasive writing.

You will mentor other attorneys and work with insured clients and Claim partners, traveling as required to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree.
• 7 years experience as a practicing attorney.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the required state(s).
• Regularly handles hearings, trials, dispositive motions, depositions, or other court proceedings and can travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Independently handle a caseload of higher exposure and complex litigation matters, including Major Case and Complex Claim matters.
• Leverage trial experience to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct advanced legal research and produce persuasive writing and presentations.
• Draft substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other legal documents.
• Attend court events, depositions and appointments independently.
• Provide guidance to insured clients and claim partners on file handling strategies.
• Collaborate with experts to develop case strategies and testimony.
• Nurture internal and external client and partner relationships and mentor staff.
