Happen Bank is seeking a senior in-house counsel with extensive experience in consumer finance law to provide strategic legal support across product development, partnerships, and regulatory compliance. You will partner with Compliance, Risk, and business teams to ensure risk-aware execution and interpret complex regulations.

The role requires at least 10 years of combined legal experience and a J.D., with strong advisory and hands-on execution abilities.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed, in good standing, in one or more states to practice law.
• Minimum 10 years combined law firm, government and/or in-house experience; at least 8 years in consumer finance law and regulations; preference for 5 years in-house at a bank, credit union or consumer lending fintech.
• Experience advising on TILA/Reg Z; ECOA/Reg B; FCRA/Reg V; BSA/AML; EFTA/Reg E; TCPA, TSR, CAN-SPAM, and/or state law analogues; FDCPA and/or state analogues; UDAAP; and GLBA/Reg P.

Responsabilités

• Provide strategic and tactical legal support for all consumer finance-related activities across the business.
• Advise on product development, partnerships, and compliance with consumer finance laws.
• Monitor regulatory developments and coordinate with Compliance and Risk teams.
• Assist in investigations of consumer complaints and regulatory examinations.
• Collaborate to improve processes for consistent legal interpretation across the marketplace.
• Support other legal team objectives and mentor junior members.
