Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor - Data Center Construction

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial management, cost control, and estimating services for a major data center construction program for a global technology client.

Successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable in a client-facing role.

Responsibilities:

• Estimating and negotiating change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Providing estimates and cost planning, including producing and presenting final cost plans.
• Reviewing and collaborating with the design team and general contractor on developing cost estimates.
• Reconciling changes and assisting the general contractor in ensuring data accuracy.
• Communicating with the general contractor and project owner to gather status information and update cost estimates.
• Preparing comments on contractor submissions, including executive summaries.
• Coordinating all sources of cost information for discussions and procurement.
• Informing and influencing engineering priorities based on cost impacts.
• Working proactively with minimal supervision to resolve scheduling issues.
• Managing cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Participating in post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
• Managing cost impact, contingency logs, and commitment tracking.
• Preparing funding data presentations and coordinating value engineering sessions.
• Adhering to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.

This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence on some days.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in cost management and quantity surveying, with a focus on large-scale data centers or similar projects.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• PQS or MRICS accreditation is a plus.
• Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Sage).
• Deep knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and risk management.
• Understanding of data center design and construction, including MEP systems and structural elements.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
