Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor - Data Center Construction

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial management, cost control, and estimating services on a global technology client’s massive data center construction program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Estimating and negotiating change orders during the construction lifecycle.
  • Providing estimate and cost planning, including producing and presenting final cost plans.
  • Reviewing and collaborating with the design team and general contractor to develop cost estimates.
  • Reconciling changes and assisting the general contractor to ensure data accuracy.
  • Engaging with general contractors and project managers to gather status updates and prepare cost estimate revisions.
  • Preparing comments on contractor submissions, including executive summaries.
  • Coordinating all cost information sources for discussions and procurement.
  • Informing engineering priorities based on cost impacts.
  • Working proactively to resolve scheduling issues with minimal supervision.
  • Managing cost checks and valuations for larger projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Participating in post-contract cost variance and change control processes.
  • Managing contingency and cost impact logs.
  • Preparing funding presentations and facilitating value engineering sessions.
  • Adhering to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.

Additional details:

  • This role is hybrid, requiring onsite presence on some days.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in cost management and quantity surveying, preferably with large-scale data centers or related projects.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • PQS or MRICS accreditation is a plus.
  • Proficiency with cost management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Sage).
  • Deep knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and risk management.
  • Understanding of data center design and construction, including MEP systems and structural elements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
