Job summary

Lewis Bakeries in Murfreesboro, TN is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to manage product costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variances across plant operations.

You will partner with plant leadership and Corporate Accounting to maintain reliable cost data, support month-end close, and provide actionable insights to improve efficiency and drive cost control. This role requires on-site work at the Murfreesboro plant with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Minimum of three years of manufacturing accounting or finance experience.
• Experience with ERP costing and inventory modules.
• Advanced Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables.
• Ability to explain cost results clearly to non-finance staff.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to deadlines across two locations.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain standard costs for all finished goods and intermediates (doughs, mixes, sponges).
• Own bills of materials, routings, work centers and labor/overhead rates in the ERP.
• Lead the annual standard cost update and mid-year revaluations for major changes.
• Support monthly close and oversee inventory counts and adjustments.
• Analyze usage/yield, labor efficiency, overhead absorption and scrap/waste variances.
• Publish monthly plant P&L results with commentary for plant and corporate leadership.
• Model financial results of continuous improvement activities and track results to expectation.
