Job summary

Lewis Bakeries is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to manage product costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis for the LaPorte and Fort Wayne plants. Based in LaPorte, you’ll translate plant activity into timely financial data to support cost control and improved performance.

You’ll lead standard cost updates, reconcile work orders, and collaborate with Corporate Accounting to maintain reliable cost data across two locations. Travel to Fort Wayne is expected approximately 25–35%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Experience in manufacturing accounting or finance.
• Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables).
• Ability to explain cost results clearly to non-finance staff.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain standard costs for finished goods and intermediates (doughs, mixes, sponges).
• Own bills of material, routings, work centers and labor/overhead rates in the ERP.
• Lead annual standard cost update and mid-year revaluations for major changes.
• Prepare cost estimates for new products and assist with corporate cost analysis/reporting.
• Support daily work order reconciliation and investigate variances with plant leadership.
