Job summary

Lewis Bakeries, Inc. is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant based at the Evansville, Indiana plant with responsibilities spanning product costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis for Evansville and Vincennes plants.

You will translate plant activity into timely financial data to support operating decisions and cost control. Reporting to the Director of Cost Accounting, you’ll partner with plant leadership and Corporate Accounting to maintain reliable cost data, improve work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Minimum of three years of manufacturing accounting or finance experience.
• Experience with ERP costing and inventory modules.
• Advanced Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables.
• Ability to explain cost results clearly to non-finance staff.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines across two locations.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain standard costs for all finished goods and intermediates at assigned plant(s).
• Own BOMs, routings, work centers, and labor/overhead rates in the ERP.
• Lead annual standard cost update and mid-year revaluations for major changes.
• Prepare cost estimates for new products and support corporate cost analysis.
• Support daily work order reconciliation and investigate variances with bakery leadership.
• Oversee post-ERP close, physical and cycle counts, and inventory reserves.
• Analyze usage, yield, and variances; publish monthly plant P&L vs standard with commentary.
• Support budgeting and decision-making with plant leadership and corporate accounting.
