Job summary

Lewis Bakeries, a multi-plant bakery group, seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to drive product costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis for Evansville and Vincennes facilities. You’ll translate plant activity into timely financial data for operating decisions with plant leadership and corporate accounting.

You will lead month-end close, cycle counts, and cost updates, ensuring accurate BOMs and labor/overhead rates across two locations. Travel ~25–35% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
• Minimum of three years in manufacturing accounting or finance.
• Experience with ERP costing and inventory modules.
• Advanced Excel skills with lookups and pivot tables.
• Ability to explain cost results clearly to non-finance staff.
• Experience with Power BI and ERP implementations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain standard costs for finished goods and intermediates.
• Own bills of material, routings, work centers and labor/overhead rates in ERP.
• Lead annual standard cost updates and mid-year revaluations.
• Prepare cost estimates for new products and assist with corporate cost analysis.
• Support daily work order reconciliation and investigate variances.
• Oversee month-end close and physical inventories; investigate adjustments.
• Analyze usage, yield, labor efficiency, and overhead absorption variances.
• Publish monthly plant P&L with commentary for leadership.
