Job summary

Virginia Department of Corrections in Chesterfield County seeks a Correction Lieutenant for the Chesterfield Womens CCAP to enhance public safety and oversee security operations for inmates and staff.

You will manage Security Supervisors and Corrections Officers, coordinate schedules, conduct inspections, and liaise with management to maintain a safe and orderly facility. Requires HV diploma, DCJS cert, and corrections experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• DCJS Certification.
• Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement.
• Experience supervising corrections staff.
• Planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work including timekeeping and duty roster management.
• Experience in reviewing and evaluating records and reports and applying post orders.
• Knowledge of security and/or administration practices and procedures.
• Ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
• Working knowledge of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.

Responsibilities

• Enhances public safety by meeting re-entry objectives and providing security services, programming, custody, and control of adult inmates in a major facility.
• Manages daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and Inmates; supervises staff on assigned shift; coordinates schedules and duty rosters as needed.
• Conducts inspections to maintain security, sanitation, and good order; interacts with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to ensure orderly operations.
