Job summary

The Virginia Department of Corrections is seeking a Corrections Lieutenant at Greensville Correctional Center to lead daily operations of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and inmates, ensuring a safe and secure institutional environment.

This position requires DCJS Certification and experience supervising staff, with strong planning, scheduling, and post order knowledge; proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred for performance management and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising corrections staff and planning work schedules.
• Knowledge of security practices and administrative procedures.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Experience reviewing records and reports and applying post orders.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and Inmates in an institutional setting.
• Supervise and monitor staff on assigned shift to ensure a safe, secure, and productive environment.
• Lead and counsel staff; coordinate work schedules and duty rosters.
• Contribute to administration of performance management system for staff.
• Conduct ongoing inspections to maintain security, sanitation, and good order of the institution.
• Interact with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain orderly operations.
