Job summary

Dept of Corre - Central Admin is seeking a Corrections Lieutenant at Fluvanna Correctional Center to oversee daily operations and supervise Security Supervisors, Officers, and inmates. The role centers on maintaining a safe, secure institution through leadership and effective coordination of staffing and duties.

Applicants should possess a high school diploma, DCJS certification, and substantial corrections or law enforcement experience, including staff supervision and scheduling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Current DCJS Certification.
• Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement.
• Experience supervising corrections staff.
• Experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work to include timekeeping and duty roster management.
• Experience reviewing and evaluating records and reports and applying post orders.
• Demonstrated knowledge of security or administration procedures.
• Ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
• Working knowledge of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls.

Responsibilities

• Manages daily activities of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and Inmates.
• Supervises and monitors staff on assigned shift for safety and order.
• Leads and counsels staff; coordinates work schedules and duty rosters.
• Contributes to performance management and staff development.
• Performs inspections to maintain security, sanitation, and order.
• Interacts with management, staff, visitors, inmates and the public to ensure secure operations.
