Job summary

DC Government is seeking a Supervisory Correctional Officer (Captain) to oversee security operations at the Central Detention Facility or CTF. The role includes directing the correctional program through subordinate supervisory officers and ensuring staff training and development, performance improvement, and annual evaluations.

Responsibilities include reporting on individual performance, issuing reprimands, and coordinating awards or commendations.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience required: leadership and supervision of staff.
• One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (Lieutenant) or equivalent supervisory work.
• Experience supervising incarcerated individuals in a facility is relevant.

Responsibilities

• Maintain overall security of the Central Detention Facility or the Correctional Treatment Facility (CTF).
• Direct and coordinate the correctional program through subordinate supervisory officers.
• Participate in training and evaluation of subordinate officers and submit performance reports.
