Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions is seeking a Captain to act as the shift commander, directing security and control operations and supervising staff to ensure detainee safety and facility coordination.

The role requires 3+ years in a correctional setting with supervisory experience, strong leadership, and the ability to develop and implement policies while maintaining accurate records and daily logs.

Qualifications

• Must meet same basic qualifications as a Corrections Officer.
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
• Minimum high school graduate or equivalent; related college courses highly desirable.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a correctional setting, one of which was in a supervisory role.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities with empathy for inmates.

Responsibilities

• Direct shift as captain and supervise staff and detainee safety.
• Develop and implement policies for custody, security, and treatment of detainees.
• Coordinate staffing for security supervisors and officers; assess staff effectiveness.
• Review disciplinary matters involving staff and detainees and respond to incidents.
• Write and maintain documents, reports, and records.
