Job summary

The Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation in West Virginia seeks a Lieutenant-level Correctional Officer responsible for shift or unit supervision, enforcing policies and ensuring public safety inside a correctional facility.

Applicants should have five years of relevant experience and must complete mandatory training and pass screenings. Travel to other DCR facilities may be required as part of duties, with overtime and shift changes common.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years of full-time or equivalent correctional experience preferred.
• Substitution: college coursework may count toward experience at 1 year per 30 hours.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shift or unit operations and enforce facility rules.
• Ensure safety and security of staff, inmates, and visitors; monitor inmate movement and behavior.
• Coordinate investigations, inquiries, and scheduling; manage posts and coverage.
