Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking an assistant/relief shift supervisor or related supervisory role in an adult correctional setting. The position emphasizes overseeing correctional staff, ensuring compliance with procedures, and maintaining order within the facility.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in the custody of adult criminal offenders in a correctional facility, with at least one year as a Correctional Sergeant or Senior Probation and Parole Assistant.
• Military service may be substituted for up to one year of the custody experience.
• All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date.

Responsibilities

• Assist/relief shift supervisor in an adult correctional facility or related unit.
• Supervise and instruct junior officers; monitor performance and address issues.
• Direct a major activity such as control center operation or reception/orientation process.
• Patrol living quarters, grounds and buildings to observe offender behavior and officer effectiveness.
• Investigate disturbances and disciplinary issues; promote rehabilitation.
• Participate in staff training and ensure compliance with established rules.
