Job summary

The State of North Carolina Department of Adult Correction seeks a Correctional Captain II (S) to oversee planning, supervision, and coordination at a medium custody male facility. Reporting to the Associate Warden of Custody, you will supervise Lieutenant IIs and coordinate administrative tasks within the facility.

Responsibilities include duties as Officer-In-Charge as needed, scheduling, disciplinary actions, inspections, and ensuring safety and discipline.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and 2 years 6 months of experience as a Correctional Lieutenant, OR 2 years as a Correctional Lieutenant II; equivalent combination accepted.
• Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
• Knowledge of Prison Policies and Procedures and/or Facility Operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Correctional Lieutenant IIs and coordinate custody staff.
• Assist with custody staff assignments, administrative affairs, and offender welfare.
• Occasionally serve as Officer-In-Charge (OIC) and coordinate leave, interviews, and monthly reports.
• Review security issues, incidents, and discipline, and assist in employee discipline.
