Anthropic is seeking an Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team in Seattle. You will own a defined set of accounts through close processes, ensuring accuracy, supportability, and explainability of financial statements.

You will collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Payroll, Legal, Tax, and Finance Systems to scale the close as the company grows. This role emphasizes attention to detail and process improvement, with opportunities to apply AI tools like Claude to accelerate work, while

• Proficient in US GAAP and monthly close processes.
• Experience with reconciliations and flux analyses in ERP/general ledger systems.
• Strong Excel skills with lookups and pivot tables.
• Experience supporting external audits and internal controls.
• Clear written and verbal communication to non-accountants.
• Good judgment on escalation needs.
• Detail‑oriented with strong ownership and deadlines.

Mansioni

• Own month-end and quarter-end close activities for assigned accounts and entities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and schedules.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and flux analyses, investigate variances, and write explanations for partners.
• Maintain US GAAP documentation for areas like prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, intercompany balances.
• Draft accounting memos and process documentation; escalate non-routine items with summaries.
• Execute internal controls and provide audit support with schedules and evidence.
• Partner with business owners to understand new transactions and reduce adjustments.
• Review contractor work and provide feedback to raise quality.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation, including AI tools with checks.
• Support system changes, testing, data validation, and documentation.
