Job Description:

The Senior Coordinator for Student Government is a member of theLeadership & Service unit within the Department of StudentInvolvement & Engagement. This position serves as the primaryadvisor to Student Government (SG) and provides leadershipdevelopment, organizational advising, and administrative support toeach of SG's branches and services. The position reports directlyto the Leadership & Service unit lead and maintains a closecollaborative relationship with the Executive Director for StudentInvolvement & Engagement to ensure alignment with departmentalpriorities, university initiatives, and student success outcomes.The Senior Coordinator works closely with student leaders,university administrators, faculty, and staff to foster meaningfulstudent engagement, effective governance, and student leadershipdevelopment.

Job Duties:

• Serve as primary advisor to Student Government, provide advising support to the Executive Cabinet and Judicial and Legislative Branches.
• Advising may include, but is not limited to, leadership development, training and development, transition planning, risk management, programming and logistics of events, recruitment and retention, evaluation of programs, and other tasks as required by the student position, group, or department.
• Co-advise the Student Body President, Vice President, and Chief of Staff alongside the Executive Director for Student Involvement & Engagement.
• Regularly attend a variety of weekly meetings and events with student leaders, some of which are held after regular business hours.
• Assist with the programming and other initiatives associated with Student Government, SGA Committees, Freshman Council, and other Student Government services.
• Support students with policy compliance, risk management, budget management, and other organizational oversight needs.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with university administrators, faculty, staff, and student leaders to support effective shared governance and student advocacy.
• Maintain regular communication and collaboration with Graduate House and Texas State – Round Rock student leaders, advisors, and support staff.
• Use assessment data and feedback from students and university stakeholders to continuously improve programs to meet current student needs.
• Prepare student leaders to travel to and serve on system-wide boards and committees.
• Maintain regular communication and collaboration with the Leadership & Service unit lead and the Executive Director for Student Involvement & Engagement regarding Student Government operations, emerging student issues, university initiatives, and student leadership development opportunities.
• May supervise graduate or undergraduate student workers.
• Serve as a member of the Leadership & Service unit and contribute to departmental initiatives, programs, assessment efforts, and strategic priorities within Student Involvement & Engagement.
