Qualifications

• Verbal and written communication in English to communicate with staff and patients.
• Proficient in cooking techniques and following recipes for varied diets.
• Previous cook experience in main kitchen or cafeteria settings.
• Strong customer service skills appropriate to a hospital food service role.
• Familiarity with common cooking terminology, weights, and measures.
• Ability to work across multiple locations and rotate shifts including nights and weekends.
• Capable of maintaining steady pace and meeting production demands.
• Ability to collaborate with teams across the Health System.

Responsibilities

• Conceive and implement upscale, diverse menus for patient care, retail, and catering.
• Prepare, season, and cook using recipes, from scratch and with some convenience items.
• Ensure safe storage, cost control, and adherence to sanitation procedures.
• Observe policies and maintain compliance with JCAHO and UC requirements.
• Support proper portioning, inventory, and cross-location coordination.
