Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Staff Design Technologist to shape customer-facing AI conversational experiences within the QuickBooks Digital Experiences team.

The role focuses on designing, training, and evaluating conversational AI agents for SMB owners and collaborating with data scientists, engineers, product managers, and UX designers. The position emphasizes prototyping AI-driven workflows, building golden datasets, and ensuring responsible, human-centered AI integration across Intuit products.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of design experience with at least 4 years in conversation design and 1 year on AI agentic platforms.
• Expertise in building simple AI tools to deliver artefacts like golden datasets and analyze trends in user responses.
• Strong data analysis skills and ability to derive insights from Voice of Customer data.
• Knowledge of language modeling and ML frameworks (NLUs, RAG, Claude Code).
• Ability to create dynamic dialog-flows using code (HTML, Python, XML, regex) and Boolean logic.

Join the QuickBooks Digital Experiences team as a Staff Design Technologist to shape the customer-facing AI conversational experiences. As part of our mission to help small and medium business owners get the best from their Intuit products, we are transforming into an AI-powered intelligent platform. Anticipating customer needs and delivering help at the right moment is our priority. As a Staff Conversation Designer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, training and evaluating conversational AI agents for our customers. We are seeking a high-technical, customer-obsessed individual with experience building chatbots and voice assistants, with skills in building simple AI tools and agents, establishing human-in-the-loop AI evaluations and creation of golden datasets to train and benchmark conversational models. This role will give you the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams of data scientists, engineers, product managers, and UX designers.

Responsibilities

• Drive multiple projects with adherence to deadlines, quality and business metrics

Qualifications

• 5 years of design experience, with at least 4 years of conversation design experience and 1year working on AI agentic platforms
• Expertise in building simple AI tools (Claude code or similar) to efficiently deliver artefacts like golden datasets, analyse trends in user responses etc
• Well-versed in data analysis and synthesizing large amounts of qualitative information (Voice of customer etc) with AI to arrive at insights and recommendations.
• Knowledge of language modeling and machine learning frameworks (NLUs, RAG, Claude Code)
• Working understanding of code (html, python, xml, regex) in order to create dynamic dialog-flows using Boolean logic and decision frameworks
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of managing stakeholders, mentoring team members and developing talent
• Experience in conducting user research and usability testing, experiment design and data analysis
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into your design workflow to improve quality, speed, or exploration
• Undergraduate degree required; certifications in Interaction Design, HCI, Psychology, Computer Science, Prompt engineering or related field preferred

The expected base pay range for this position is:
Mountain View $155,500 - $210,500
San Diego, CA $143,000- $193,500
