Job summary

Vertiv seeks an Engineering Manager to supervise and lead a Controls Engineering team and third-party engineers, driving design and execution from post-sales handover to delivery. You will oversee multi-discipline coordination across structural, electrical, mechanical and IT systems for data center and telecom infrastructure.

The role emphasizes managing budgets, quality, and customer alignment, with travel 15–20% domestically and a focus on continuous improvement and leadership excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Optional, if actual experience is demonstrated.
• Professional engineering (PE) License – optional
• 6+ years of engineering and management experience
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, SolidWorks, etc.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
• Experience reading, understanding and interpreting construction drawings and equipment specifications.
• Understanding of the National Electrical Code, National Building Code, International Building Code, NFPA70 etc.
• Fundamental understanding of critical data center equipment.
• Excellent organization skills and must be detail oriented.
• Proven problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Strong leadership skills

Responsibilities

• Directly supervising, supporting and providing direction and leadership to the Controls Engineers, and third party Engineering teams.
• Responsible for post-sales engineering team and taking over a project from the pre-sales team and managing technical project execution.
• Lead the engineering team to create designs meeting Vertiv’s quality requirements within budget.
• Coordinate all engineering disciplines including structural, architectural, thermal, electrical, mechanical, fire and BCMS/Controls.
• Work with other Vertiv business units and third party equipment suppliers to select equipment meeting requirements.
• Interact with customer and their engineering teams to align Vertiv design with customer needs.
• Interact with permitting agents to support permitting efforts.
• Coordinate with the customer’s GC to oversee site work.
• Manage contracted engineering companies for civil, HVAC and structural designs and drawings.
• Ensure compliance with NBC, IBC, NEC and NFPA70 standards.
• Support onsite project operations including failure analysis and startup.
• Travel to sites for reviews and field work.
• Offer creative, out-of-the-box solutions to customers.
• Improve existing engineering plans, processes and procedures.
• Perform annual performance evaluations and set objectives for team members.
