Job summary

Anduril Industries in McHenry, IL, is seeking a Staff Controls Engineer to design, commission, and upgrade control systems for Solid Rocket Motor production equipment. You will architect and implement Siemens PLC code and integrate FactoryOS software to support high-volume manufacturing.

The role requires deep expertise in PLC programming, servo/VFD control, electrical design, and OT/SCADA integration. You will mentor engineers and drive rapid root-cause analysis and reliability improvements

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Robotics, CS, ME, or EE.
8+ years in controls and automation in a production environment.
Expert in Siemens PLC programming (Ladder and Structured Text).
Proficient with servo drives and VFDs, PID tuning.
Strong knowledge of ethernet-based protocols (ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, Ethernet IP).
Proficient with electrical component selection and wire sizing, circuit protection, heat management in control cabinets.
Experience integrating with SCADA and OT Networking.
Experience with risk assessments and Controls Safety Design.

Responsibilities

Design, commission, and upgrade control systems for Solid Rocket Motor production equipment.
Architect, write, and debug Siemens PLC code for high-volume manufacturing applications.
Generate and enforce internal standards for control systems architectures and safety buyoffs.
Integrate FactoryOS software into automation equipment and production lines.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures; ensure rapid resolution.
Install, configure, and tune servo drives and VFDs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment issues and drive improvements.
Mentor junior controls engineers and provide technical direction.
