Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Wilmington, NC seeks a Senior Controls Engineer to design, develop and optimize automated control systems for fiber optic cable production. Lead PLC/HMI projects, mentor engineers, and collaborate across maintenance and operations to improve safety, reliability and efficiency.

Requires a B.S. in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering and 4+ years in manufacturing with PLC/HMI programming, AutoCAD Electrical, and ControlLogix. Frequent travel <20% and on-site work.

Qualifications

• Requires a B.S. in Electrical/Mechanical/Computer/Electrical-Electronics engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in manufacturing with HMI/SCADA programming, PLCs/HMIs/VFDs in plant environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design, motion control, and electrical drawings.
• Safety-focused with NEC/NFPA understanding and LOTO procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, creation, modification and implementation of automation and process control systems for cable production.
• Mentor and train junior controls engineers and manage project scope for process improvements and equipment upgrades.
• Coordinate with external integrators to deliver integrated process equipment to the facility.
• Participate in all project phases including design, fabrication, integration, testing, start-up and tech transfer.
