Job summary

Corning seeks a Senior Controls Technician in Wilmington, NC to join our R&D team. You will develop and improve control systems for optical fiber manufacturing equipment and partner with equipment engineers and deployment teams across technology development.

You will design and install new control capabilities, support startup of new equipment, and create documentation and training to transfer knowledge. Strong electrical/mechatronics background required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical/Controls/Mechatronics preferred.
• 10+ years in a technical field with PLC experience.
• Ability to read electrical, instrumentation and mechanical drawings.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar software.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, installation, and troubleshooting of control systems for development equipment.
• Design, install, and troubleshoot new controls capabilities and measurement instrumentation on industrial equipment.
• Collaborate with design engineers, deployment teams, and manufacturing receivers through development stages.
• Provide startup support for new equipment and processes.
• Develop training materials and documentation for transferring control systems and equipment.
• Document actions, testing results, observations and final project outcomes.
