Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Senior Controls Technician to join our Research and Development team. You will develop and improve control systems for optical fiber manufacturing equipment and implement new technological solutions—working closely with equipment engineers and processing deployment teams across all stages of technology development.

This role requires a strong background in electrical/controls engineering, PLC work, and the ability to read complex drawings.

Qualifications

Associate degree preferred in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics.
10+ years of experience in a technical field.
PLC experience including troubleshooting and automation.
Ability to read electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical drawings.
Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar software.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Support design, installation, and troubleshooting of control systems for development equipment.
Design and troubleshoot new controls capabilities and measurement instrumentation on industrial equipment.
Collaborate with design engineers, deployment teams, and manufacturing receivers through development stages.
Provide startup support for new equipment and processes.
Develop training materials and documentation for transfer of new control systems.
Document actions, test results, observations, and final findings.
