Job summary
Corning Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to design, develop, program, implement, and optimize control systems for our cable manufacturing processes.
You will provide advanced leadership in troubleshooting, integrate systems, and mentor junior engineers while driving continuous improvement and IP development. You will design robust automation solutions (Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs), collaborate with external integrators, and ensure safety and reliability across
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical/Electronics Eng Tech.
- 4+ years manufacturing experience with HMI/SCADA systems programming: PLCs/HMIs/VFDs.
- Strong understanding of electrical design practices, motor control, and PLC programming.
- Ability to read electrical drawings with AutoCAD Electrical 2021 and ensure safety/code compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead problem solving and provide technical expertise for process/equipment issues.
- Design, modify, and implement automated control systems for fiber optic cable production.
- Mentor junior controls engineers.
- Manage control engineering scope for process improvement and capital projects.
- Coordinate with system integrators to deliver integrated equipment and perform testing and commissioning.
- Collaborate across maintenance, operations, and other functions to ensure successful project completion.
