Job summary

ApartmentIQ is seeking an experienced Controller to lead and scale the accounting function at our high-growth SaaS company. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will own financial reporting, month-end close, audit, compliance, and accounting operations while partnering closely with executive leadership to support strategic growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA required
• 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Minimum of 3 years in a management role
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition
• Experience leading audits and implementing internal controls
• Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems)
• Proven ability to implement process improvements and scalable accounting practices
• Advanced Excel skills
• Builder mindset with hands-on day-to-day involvement in finance

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements
• Ensure ASC 606 revenue recognition compliance
• Deliver management reporting and board materials
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
• Improve and automate accounting processes for scalability
• Maintain strong accounting policies and documentation
• Lead annual financial statement audits and manage external relationships
• Design and maintain internal controls
• Oversee tax compliance (federal, state, local)
• Manage cash flow forecasting and treasury
• Partner with FP&A on budgeting and variance analysis
• Hire, manage, and develop accounting team members
• Build scalable accounting infrastructure
• Balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution
