Job summary

Stanley Consultants is seeking a Principal Control Systems Engineer in a hybrid role based in Austin, TX. The role focuses on leading control system design for power plants, municipal water, and industrial facilities, with deep expertise in DCS/PLCs and instrumentation.

The successful candidate will oversee technical leadership, client liaison, and project management while ensuring compliance with ISA/IEC/NEC standards and Stanley’s QA/QC procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
• Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in control systems engineering.
• Extensive experience with DCS and PLC design, implementation, and commissioning.
• Experience with municipal, industrial, and power generation control systems.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and coordinate complex control systems engineering assignments.
• Lead evaluation and design of plant control and instrumentation systems (DCS/PLC).
• Develop innovative control system architectures and design changes.
• Prepare technical documents: reports, specifications, drawings, P&IDs, I/O lists.
• Sign and seal control systems plans per standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain Stanley Consultants QA/QC standards.
• Serve as primary technical liaison with clients and coordinate resources.
