Job summary

Stanley Consultants seeks a Principal Control Systems Engineer to lead complex projects across power, water, and industrial automation. You will guide control system design from concept through commissioning as a technical specialist with deep instrumentation expertise.

The role requires a BSEE, PE license, 12+ years in DCS/PLC, and strong leadership with client liaison skills. Hybrid work options available in IL, CO, MN, and other locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum 12 years progressive experience in control systems engineering.
• Extensive experience with DCS/PLC design, implementation, and commissioning.
• Proven track record leading complex control systems projects.
• Experience in municipal, industrial, and power generation control systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex control systems engineering assignments with significant project impact.
• Oversee evaluation and design of plant control and instrumentation systems (DCS/PLC).
• Develop innovative control system architectures and design changes.
• Create comprehensive technical documents: reports, drawings, P&IDs, datasheets, schedules.
• Assess need for design changes based on analysis and requirements.
• Sign and seal engineering plans per standards and regulations.
• Maintain Stanley Consultants QA/QC adherence.
• Serve as primary technical liaison with clients on projects.
• Plan resources and programs for the control systems organization.
• Support bid evaluation, construction, and commissioning activities.
