Stanley Consultants in Austin, TX is seeking a Principal Control Systems Engineer to lead the design, integration, and commissioning of DCS/PLC-based control systems across industrial projects.

You will supervise multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with ISA/IEC standards, and deliver technical documentation, client liaison, and project leadership from concept through startup. This role offers hybrid work options and a path to senior leadership within a global, employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in control systems engineering.
• Extensive experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) design, implementation, and commissioning.
• Demonstrated track record leading complex control systems projects.

Responsibilities

• Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate control systems assignments with significant project impact.
• Lead evaluation of existing systems and design of plant control and instrumentation systems (DCS/PLC).
• Develop innovative concepts for control architectures and suggest design changes.
• Prepare technical documents: reports, drawings, P&IDs, data sheets, procurement specs.
• Lead client communications and coordinate with site teams during installation and commissioning.
