Job summary

Travelers is seeking an AVP, Underwriting Officer, Construction to lead and execute underwriting strategies for a regional book of business. You will drive profitability, growth, and retention while managing a small team and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines.

The role entails overseeing complex CUREs, coaching underwriters, and partnering with home office and field leadership to optimize regional performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Eight years of commercial underwriting experience.
• Two years of people and/or portfolio leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess, design, implement, and drive underwriting strategies to meet regional profit and growth objectives.
• Oversee underwriting execution through complex risk and portfolio CUREs and evaluate underwriter proficiency and quality.
• Lead development of underwriting capabilities and best practices through coaching and trainings for regional efficiency.
• Monitor trends and regional results; develop regional strategies in coordination with home office and field leadership.
• Provide strategic direction and support for the team and manage coaching, training, and performance.
