Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company in Richardson, TX seeks an AVP, Underwriting Officer for Construction to lead regional underwriting strategies and drive profitability, growth and retention for an assigned region.

You will guide complex CUREs, coach underwriters, develop capabilities, monitor trends, and collaborate with home office and field leadership to execute regional plans; a small team may be managed.

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of commercial underwriting experience, including construction risk.
• Expert knowledge of risk appetite, risk selection and regulatory environment.
• Ability to lead and influence others and work with internal/external partners.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills in complex underwriting contexts.

Responsibilities

• Design and drive underwriting strategies to meet regional profit and growth targets.
• Oversee complex CUREs and evaluate underwriter proficiency and quality.
• Coach and train underwriters to raise capabilities and consistency.
• Monitor regional trends and adjust business plans with leadership.
• Provide strategic direction and manage coaching, training and performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
