Job summary

DUAL North America is seeking an AVP/VP Underwriter for the Builders Risk division. This leadership role defines underwriting strategy, grows a national construction portfolio, and leads a team of 1–5 underwriters.

You will oversee broker relationships, profitability targets, and cross-functional alignment with product, claims, and actuarial. The role emphasizes wood frame builders risk expertise and strategic portfolio growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management or related field.
• 5–12 years underwriting experience.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow your own portfolio of projects evaluating risk and utilizing capacity within carrier agreements and UW guidelines.
• Train and foster careers of Associate Underwriters and Underwriters within the team.
• Manage a small to mid-sized team and be responsible for performance evaluations, hiring and recruitment decisions.
• Define team production goals aligned to division goals and drive execution in a hands-on fashion.
• Own underwriter referrals and review team outputs.
