Job summary

Argo Group is seeking a production underwriter for an on-site role responsible for marketing, underwriting and processing assigned lines of business. The position requires working on-site during standard hours and entails interacting with brokers to negotiate terms and price policies.

Candidates should have three+ years of underwriting experience and a strong analytic capability. The role emphasizes building profitable growth, reviewing state laws, and maintaining complete underwriting files.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience in insurance.
• Three+ years underwriting experience with authority, preferably FI lines.
• Proven track record of driving profitable growth.
• Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and price policies according to underwriting guidelines and authority.
• Use underwriting tools to determine classifications, rates, and premiums.
• Interact with brokers in person, email, and phone to obtain risk details, negotiate terms, and explain positions.
• Manage assigned portfolio and monitor broker performance (GWP, loss ratio).
• Create and interpret data from reports and dashboards.
• Complete underwriting analyses and maintain files.
• Review state laws related to cancellations and non-renewals within territory.
