Senior Construction Superintendent: Lead Complex Projects

Job summary

JE Dunn is seeking a Senior Superintendent to plan, manage and execute complex projects in the Tempe area. You will lead safety, manage subcontractors and staff, develop work plans, and coordinate site activities to ensure timely, profitable project completion.

You will drive scheduling, budget oversight, and QA/QC, while maintaining strong relationships with owners and design teams. Travel and non standard hours may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• 10+ years construction experience.
• 8+ years field supervision experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Willingness to travel and/or relocate.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours.
• Experience leading Lean principles on projects.
• Experience promoting safety culture and incident investigations.
• Strong scheduling and budgeting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of safety culture on projects and mentor staff.
• Manage subcontractors and organize overall job workflow.
• Oversee staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs (Safety, Quality, EEO).
• Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work.
• Coordinate project site care, custody and control.
• Lead daily standups and weekly trade meetings.
• Participate in progress, OAC and review meetings.
• Create and manage project schedule with Project Manager.
• Monitor budget and cost reporting using PM systems.
• Communicate project updates to owners, design team and authorities.
• Ensure documentation, logs and reports are up to date.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation with team.
• Assist in formwork, tools and equipment selection for self‑perform.
• Oversee timecard approvals and cost codes.
• Support procurement processes (MOC, DLSC).
• Support project closeout activities and owner coordination.
• Align staffing with project needs and schedule changes.
