Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Design Group is seeking a Construction Senior Project Manager in Chicago to lead large-scale industrial projects across food, beverage, life sciences and manufacturing sectors. You will partner with design teams, engineers, and client stakeholders to deliver on time and within budget.

The role requires 12+ years in construction, 8+ years as a construction manager with industrial structures, and proficiency with Procore, AutoCAD/Revit, with travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of experience in construction roles including project management.
• Minimum 8 years as construction manager with industrial structures experience.
• Experience with A&E design-build firms preferred.
• Experience reading P&IDs and process systems knowledge.
• Experience negotiating contracts and preparing bids.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and relocate if needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction projects in food, beverage and life sciences sectors with design teams, engineers, authorities and subcontractors.
• Oversee inception-to-closeout: planning, scheduling, resources, budgets and coordination.
• Generate monthly project control reports and manage risk with contracts/insurance.
• Create and review estimates from early design to provide budget alignment.
• Manage bid packages, site walks, bid reviews and contractor mobilization.
• Review subcontractor contracts for schedule and scope conformity.
• Coordinate subcontractor/supplier requirements to meet schedule.
• Ensure compliance with plans and specs and quality standards.
• Oversee safety, on-site progression and closeout meetings.
• Analyze change requests and manage project safety culture.
• Drive client relationships and project outcomes with proactive communication.
