Job summary

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Construction Project Management Supervisor for the Port Everglades Department. This role leads the design and management of major construction projects, supervises staff, and ensures compliance with codes and contractual requirements.

You will coordinate with multiple county agencies, review plans, oversee bids and contracts, conduct field inspections, and prepare progress reports and evaluations.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in architecture and/or engineering or closely related field.
• Requires six years in professional architectural or engineering work, including four years in project management and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manages the solicitation process for competitively bid work from qualified vendors.
• Reviews building designs, plans, and specifications for compliance with codes and structural integrity.
• Performs field inspections to assess structural stability and recommend remedial measures.
• Reviews work requests to ensure safe operations without damaging infrastructure; evaluates loads and stresses on structures.
• Manages and supervises contractors and consultants; negotiates contracts, amendments, change orders, and work authorizations.
• Supervises other project managers and engineering staff; reviews plans, calculations, and invoices.
• Reviews project progress, negotiates fees/scope with consultants, and signs construction documents and permits.
• Holds meetings with contractors/consultants to review progress; approves invoices and prepares vendor evaluations.
