Job summary

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Construction Project Manager for the Water & Wastewater Engineering Division to lead complex projects.

The role involves coordinating consultants and contractors, managing multiple projects from planning through warranty, and preparing budgets. Eight years of professional engineering/construction management experience are required; a Florida PE is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction management or closely related field.
• Requires eight (8) years of professional engineering and/or construction management experience relevant to the area of assignment or closely related experience.
• Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License based on area of assignment.
• Preferences: Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Public Administration or closely related field; Florida PE License; PMP; PMI-CP; LEED; Broward County Licensed General Building Contractor, or Engineer/Speciality Engineering Contractor; 2+ years water/wastewater or Govt procurement experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops and prepares engineering plans and designs for a variety of construction projects; estimates quantities and costs.
• Assists consultants in the development of construction projects; reviews plans and specifications; monitors consultant cost estimates and payment.
• Coordinates bid advertisements; schedules pre-bid conferences; evaluates bids and recommends award of contract.
• Schedules pre-bid construction meetings; issues Notice to Proceed; reviews field inspection reports.
• Maintains records of consultant payments and construction progress; assists with change orders.
• Inspects projects for substantial completion and manages warranty period corrections.
• Prepares paperwork for capitalizing and closing projects; submits technical and management reports.
• Meets with consultants, contractors, agencies, and community leaders; assists with budget for capital expenditures.
• Makes recommendations on hiring, discipline and promotions; evaluates performance.
• Performs related work as assigned.
