Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead day-to-day management of complex commercial construction projects in Des Moines, IA. You will supervise project teams, coach staff, and foster trusted client relationships while ensuring cost control and adherence to schedules.

You will oversee contracts, coordinate with subcontractors, and drive safety and QA/QC programs on-site. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for success in a dynamic, on-site role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree plus minimum ten years related experience
• Thorough knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, and engineering principles and techniques; strong accounting understanding
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
• Experience supervising and mentoring staff

Responsibilities

• Lead in development of high-performance teams through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring; ensure timely performance appraisals
• Manage and develop assigned staff toward maximum job performance and career potential
• Develop client relationships fostering a 'trusted advisor' status
• Understand and administer Turner’s contracts and subcontract agreements
• Establish, update, and communicate the Master Project Schedule and manage its implementation
• Manage budget and financial reporting; interpret and analyze reports to ensure adherence to budget
• Oversee QA/QC program and safety protocols; drive risk evaluation and contract negotiations
• Promote community involvement and diverse, inclusive environment
• Work with preconstruction team as needed and support continuous improvement and innovations
