Job summary

WSP seeks a Resident Engineer (Construction Management) for Seattle/Tacoma to supervise field teams on public works and infrastructure projects across Washington and the Pacific Northwest.

You will oversee contract administration, documentation, safety, and coordination with owners, designers, and regulators. The role requires a Civil/Construction degree and 10+ years in related roles with travel to project sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of construction management or inspection experience on public works.
  • Experience as Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, or equivalent role.
  • Experience administering public works contracts.
  • Knowledge of construction documentation and change management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with owners, designers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary field representative and main point of contact for the Owner.
  • Lead daily construction administration activities for transportation, bridge, roadway, utility, and civil infrastructure projects.
  • Supervise inspectors, office engineers, document control specialists, and other project staff.
  • Review plans, specifications, contract documents, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and change requests.
  • Monitor contractor performance for compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, project schedules, and quality expectations.
  • Facilitate construction progress meetings and coordinate communication among project stakeholders.
  • Review and recommend progress payments, change orders, claims, and contract modifications.
  • Evaluate construction issues and develop practical solutions to maintain project objectives.
