Job summary

WSP is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Inspector for our Seattle, WA office to join our growing Construction Management team. You will provide on-site inspection services for transportation, municipal, utility, and infrastructure projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

You will monitor construction activities, verify compliance with plans and specs, document progress, and help deliver high-quality projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 9 years of construction inspection experience on public works or heavy civil construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, and contract documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong written communication and documentation skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspection of contractor operations to verify compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and contract requirements.
• Prepare detailed daily inspection reports documenting workforce, equipment, materials, work activities, weather conditions, and significant events.
• Verify completed quantities and maintain supporting documentation for contractor payments.
• Monitor traffic control, public safety measures, and temporary erosion and sediment control practices.
• Coordinate and document field testing and material acceptance activities.
• Review material certifications, test results, and quality documentation.
• Maintain project records, photographs, field notes, and as-built documentation.
• Identify and communicate construction issues, potential conflicts, and non-conforming work.
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with contractors, owners, utilities, and project team members.
• Support change order documentation and field issue resolution.
• Promote a strong culture of safety and compliance on all projects.
