Job summary

City of Virginia Beach is seeking a Construction Inspector III to join the Public Works team. You will inspect highway and drainage projects, review records and payments, and ensure compliance with city and state standards.

The role requires preparing change orders and coordinating with contractors during construction. The ideal candidate holds a High School diploma or GED with eight years of experience and a valid VA/NC driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED plus eight (8) years progressive experience or equivalent.
• Current and valid driver's license (VA or NC).
• Ability to perform field inspections and interpret contract documents.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections and make minor field engineering decisions.
• Process records and financial data for construction, repair, or renovation projects.
• Ensure use of proper methods and materials and review time extensions.
• Approve payment requests and verify work performed; review change orders.
• Review construction docs for proficiency in MS Office applications.
