Job summary

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) in Virginia Beach, VA is hiring a Construction Inspector to oversee highway construction and maintenance projects. You will monitor contractor work, inspect materials, collect field data, and ensure compliance with plans, specs, and safety standards to deliver quality infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have 3–7 years of experience, knowledge of VDOT standards, and proficiency with contract management software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• 3-7 years of relevant experience in materials and specifications related to VDOT projects.
• Knowledge of roadway, structure, and bridge construction/maintenance methods and standards.
• Experience with VDOT specs, manuals, plans, and environmental/safety guidelines.
• Ability to use project contract management software.
• Proficient in MS Office and construction management software.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor work for quality control and contract compliance on roadway/bridge projects.
• Inspect and document field activities and materials tests.
• Take field measurements and review plan lines, grades and elevations.
• Coordinate with contractor and agency staff on inspection phases and schedules.
• Maintain project records and daily diaries, pay quantities, and estimates.
• Ensure DBE/EEO compliance and safety requirements on site.
