Job summary

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector for Virginia Beach, VA. The role focuses on inspecting highway construction and maintenance to ensure quality in accordance with plans and specifications, delivering a safe and reliable transportation system.

The Inspector will monitor contractor work, perform field measurements, and maintain detailed records while coordinating with project staff and agencies.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–7 years of relevant experience in materials, standards, and specifications related to VDOT projects.
• Knowledge of roadway, structure, and bridge construction/maintenance methods and specifications.
• Ability to use the Project’s contract management software.
• Valid Driver’s License with safe driving record and pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor work for quality control and contract compliance across roadway, structure, and bridge projects.
• Inspect field work including excavations, drainage facilities, road surfaces, and structures.
• Document daily production rates and field observations.
• Schedule work and inspection phases with contractor superintendent and agency personnel.
• Maintain project records including diaries, pay quantities, and monthly estimates.
