Job summary

AIT in Anchorage, AK is seeking a Senior Construction Estimator to prepare accurate project estimates by analyzing plans, specs, and cost factors. The role involves collaborating with the Project Management team, coordinating site visits, and ensuring competitive bids with verified subcontractor pricing.

The ideal candidate will have a construction management or engineering background, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead cost estimation from proposal through completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering; relevant experience may substitute education on a 1:1 basis.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and construction engineering software (MS Project, PDF Converter, Bluebeam REVU, RSMeans).
• Broad knowledge of on-site commercial retail, industrial, and tenant improvement construction operations and scheduling.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background checks and drug screen.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to manage multiple assignments with deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Execute takeoffs in CSI divisions (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, concrete, masonry).
• Prepare estimates from plans/specs and research subcontractors for competitive pricing.
• Coordinate travel to job sites to gather materials, labor, and other cost data.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates with quantity take-offs and cost factors.
• Develop bid packages and subcontractor scopes; participate in RFP processes.
• Build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing
• Interface with clients, architects, engineers, and jurisdictions on project objectives and permits
• Assist Project Management to ensure proper staffing and turnover of bid documents
