Job summary

Ahtna, Inc. is seeking a Construction Estimator in Anchorage, AK to prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, analyze plans and specifications, and coordinate with project teams to ensure bids are competitive and accurate.

The role requires strong budgeting skills, experience with CSI divisions and remediation projects, and the ability to travel to job sites. Telecommute eligibility is noted, with a focus on meeting project objectives and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering (experience may substitute for education)
• 3+ years estimating construction projects, preferably in federal market for GC or large Prime Contractor
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Project, PDF tools, Bluebeam REVU, RSMeans
• Knowledge of on-site commercial retail, industrial, and tenant improvements; knowledge of Site Work and CSI divisions including civil remediation systems
• Pass pre-employment background and drug screen
• Strong communication skills, ability to explain technical aspects to clients
• Ability to manage multiple assignments with deadlines
• Must wear PPE and adhere to safety requirements
• Strong time management and prioritization to support multiple projects

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates from plans and specifications, researching subcontractors and materials for competitive pricing
• Travel to job sites to collect information on materials, labor and other factors
• Prepare detailed cost estimates with quantity take-offs and cost factors
• Establish relationships with subcontractors and suppliers for competitive pricing
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers and jurisdictions to incorporate project objectives and costs
• Analyze means and methods to recommend cost-saving improvements
• Develop bid packages for trades and assist in RFP processes
• Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure proper staffing for costs, schedules and budgets
• Communicate estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings
• Support compliance with company policies, safety, quality, and environmental requirements
• Assist in project management, review submittals, shop drawings, as-built turnover and walkthroughs
