Job summary

Auterion is seeking a Senior Computer Vision Engineer to design and deploy onboard perception for autonomous aerial platforms. You’ll work across classical CV, deep learning, camera calibration, and embedded inference, delivering real-time performance on constrained hardware.

You will train networks, optimize pipelines, and take algorithms from bench to flight, coordinating with pilots and teams to ensure robust field results and measurable improvements in logs and videos.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on CV deployment on resource constrained platforms, ideally robotic or aerial.
  • Strong grounding in classical vision: features, matching, optical flow, calibration and geometry.
  • Experience training and deploying CNNs for detection/classification with end-to-end evaluation.
  • Rigorous timing and sensor synchronization, latency matters, debugging timing issues.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python, with OpenCV experience.
  • End-to-end CV work from problem definition to real deployment.
  • Willingness for field work and travel to test sites and analyze real logs.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and lead across teams; strong communication.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and optimize onboard perception algorithms for real time detection and state estimation.
  • Train, retrain and evaluate neural networks for detection and classification, including data labelling.
  • Optimize models and pipelines for embedded inference within latency/throughput budgets.
  • Develop and maintain camera calibration and sensor synchronization procedures.
  • Combine visual measurements with inertial data using filtering and estimation techniques.
  • Plan and run field test campaigns; fly, collect data, analyze logs with pilots and integrators.
  • Build repeatable evaluation methods for cross-iteration performance measurement.
  • Provide input into hardware options and evaluate compute options against data.
  • Take ownership of CV deliverables, drive alignment, and mentor other engineers.
