Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Compute Platform to own the orchestration infrastructure used by hundreds of services.

You will build tooling, automation, and new capabilities on Kubernetes and CNCF technologies, partnering with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams. The role emphasizes developer-focused tooling, AI-enabled workflows, and scalable operations, with base salary in the 186,065–218,900 USD range and equity/bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java with production-grade infra services experience.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP at scale (EC2, EKS, IAM, VPC).
• Experience designing and operating distributed infrastructure, with root-cause resolution.
• Familiarity with CNCF tools (Helm, Prometheus, ArgoCD, Envoy) and using them to solve infra problems.

Responsibilities

• Own design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation.
• Build developer-facing tooling and workflows to improve interaction with Kubernetes, including AI-driven processes.
• Deliver new compute capabilities like one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, and automatic right-sizing.
• Automate toil, reduce on-call burden, and improve observability and incident response.
• Partner with Security, Reliability, and Observability to meet standards for security and uptime.
