Job summary

Western States Equipment Company in Washington state is seeking a skilled technician to service Caterpillar equipment, disassemble and reassemble major components, and order parts using SIS Web. You will work with safety as a core value and support customers with timely, accurate service reports.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED; an associate degree is preferred, and 2–3 years of heavy equipment experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree from a vocational school preferred or comparable work experience required.
• Two or three years minimum experience working on heavy equipment in a Caterpillar or similar environment with component rebuild experience preferred.
• Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).

Responsibilities

• Disassembles and assembles major machine components efficiently, correctly and safely with some technical assistance.
• Qualifies all parts for reusability with some technical assistance.
• Looks up and orders parts utilizing SIS, TMI with little or no assistance.
• Uses Cat technical information, including service and operations manuals, SIS Web, TMI, SIMSI and STW to address technical issues.
• Writes detailed and accurate service reports for every component repair.
• Performs all tasks in accordance with printed procedures.
• Assists other technicians as needed.
• Handles all customer inquiries in a prompt and professional manner.
• Adheres to all customer care standards.
• May accomplish training and serve as a team member in support of Western States’ strategic programs and initiatives.
